The Canadian Chemistry Contest (CCC), organized by the Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC), is one of Canada's most prestigious academic chemistry competitions. The CCC also serves as a national qualifying round for the Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (CCO), with top performers receiving invitations to the national finals and ultimately joining the Canadian national team to compete in the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO).

Registration for the 2026 CCC season is now open!
We are an authorized testing center.

II. CCC Registration Methods
Registration can be done through school-wide registration (at the test center) or via the "Asidan International Science Assessment" mini-program. Students from non-test center schools can register through official partner platforms.
III. CCC Competition Arrangement
1. Suitable Students: All grades in high school
2. Language: English
3. Competition Format:
The Canadian Chemistry Competition is an individual competition, conducted in English, and is a written exam.
4. Exam Structure:
25 multiple-choice questions, total score 100 points, 4 points per question, no penalty for incorrect answers; no experiments.
5. Exam Duration: 60 minutes
IV. Competition Rules
1. Participants:
High school students of any grade are eligible to participate in the CCC Canadian Chemistry Competition.
2. Competition Location:
In-person exam at a test center (the student's chosen test center) or online (requires a computer with a webcam and a mobile device).
V. CCC Scope
The CCC (Canadian Chemistry Contest) covers a wide range of topics, including:
Safety Issues: Focuses on basic knowledge of laboratory safety and chemical handling.
Organic Chemistry: Covers the structure, nomenclature, properties, and reactions of organic compounds.
Acids and Bases: Includes acid-base theory, acid-base reactions, and their applications.
From Structure to Properties: Explores the relationship between the structure of chemical substances and their physicochemical properties.
Electrochemistry: Includes redox reactions, batteries, and electrolysis.
Solutions and Stoichiometry: Covers the properties of solutions, concentration calculations, and the stoichiometry of chemical reactions.
Gas Laws and Basic Concepts: Such as the ideal gas law and the kinetic theory of molecules.
Thermochemistry: Studies heat changes in chemical reactions.
Reaction Kinetics: Explores chemical reaction rates and their influencing factors.
Chemical Equilibrium: Includes the chemical equilibrium constant, the principle of equilibrium shift, and its applications.
The CCC competition primarily consists of multiple-choice questions, with an overall lower difficulty level, suitable for beginners in chemistry. The questions are closely related to current chemical hot topics and daily life, focusing on assessing students' mastery of basic chemical knowledge and skills, as well as their interest in exploration and problem-solving.

VIII. CCC Chemistry Competition Examination Instructions
1. Equipment and Materials:
Calculators without programming functions, printed copies of the periodic table, and scratch paper are allowed.
Online candidates must use the latest version of Google Chrome and close other software.
2. Invigilation Rules:
Entry is prohibited 15 minutes after the start of the exam. Papers can be submitted 15 minutes early.
Obstructing the camera or leaving the examination room is prohibited. A black screen for more than 5 minutes will result in disqualification.
3. Answering Strategy:
It is recommended to prioritize answering the basic questions (accounting for 40%), skipping the difficult questions and returning to them later.
About CIC

The Canadian Chemistry Competition (CCC) is jointly organized with the Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (CCO). The CCC fosters an understanding of chemistry among talented young people, encouraging them to pursue it as a career and promoting excellence in chemistry at the high school/Cégep level nationwide.
The CCO is organized by the Chemical Society of Canada (CIC), a renowned academic organization comprised of three chemical societies: the Chemical Society of Canada, the Society of Chemical Engineering of Canada, and the Society of Biochemistry of Canada.
About ICHO
Canada's representatives for the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) are selected from the CCO. Currently, over 100 countries participate in the IChO, an annual competition aimed at encouraging excellence in high school chemistry education and learning worldwide. The IChO is the most prestigious global chemistry competition that Canadian students can participate in at the high school or CÉGEP level.
Canada first participated in the International Chemistry Olympiad in 1985. Since then, Canadian chemistry students have won 8 gold medals, 34 silver medals, and 61 bronze medals, as well as 8 honorable mentions.
